Hograost 2006 - A very Private party

Raost Hog Head

After a bit of kerfuffle, Pondgirl and I managed to get down for the second day of The Hograost. It is the first time we have been to one of these events and it was well worth the effort. We only wish we could have made it for the first day and taken part in one of the ride outs, but our son's 18th birthday needed organising, as he was having a house party at our place, while we came to the Hograost.

PG at our pitch.

Even with things cut to the minimum, PG still managed to pack the tartan rug.

Our first little adventure on her

The Hograost marquee, in which much partying took place. This is about as far offroad I have been on my 1200GS. There are now 702 miles on the clock.

looking back from the bar area.

The Hograost looking back towards our tent. There were a couple of sales tents for camping/biking gear and Ultimate Ear plugs. Behind me were the lavatories, showers and upstairs, the bar.

Wizard apparantly attempted to make a point of testing his 1200's buoyancy in an accomodating local ford. Unfortunately it sank, but got back to the site and was given a service just make sure evrything as ok. Wizard looks on while his bike gets serviced

Danish Spanish riding We didn't really get round to introducing ourselves to everyone, but I gather these guys were Scandinavian. It looks like they were having fun.

The offroad ride our returns

The offroad ride out returns, tired but sounding very happy.

The sauces were brewed. Bakerman making gravy

Now what does that switch do? The band was setting up.

Catching up with people.

Queueing for the food was well worth it. The queues for food were long

Raost Hog One of Bakermans best Raost Hogs.

A handy pig sized tripod. Handy because it has to hold a lot of pig. Hog ready for serving up

After the food, the band started.

After a good feed, people took an interest as the band started their first set. Some people wore more informal clothes than others.

They were excellent

The band got going and the party really started.

The force was strong that night. And you ride a C90 wearing that?

And the band played on.

And the band played on.

Clive dances like a goodun.

Everyone danced a bit. Clive danced a lot.

Everyone seemed to like it

People cheered and clapped.

As we had to get back the next morning to sort out the mess the house was likely to be in, we did not stay up long after the band finished, but retired to our tent to get a surprisingly good nights sleep thanks to the two self-inflatable foam bedrolls we had recently bought.

Next time we try something like this, we will have panniers on the bike. I already have a set of The Civil Ones finest on order (www.cajasahel.com).

And then we had to break camp and come home.

It was a most excellent event. Bakerman and his band of workers did us all proud.
