Pondboy's BMW F650GS News

Biking again
In January 2004, I wanted another bike so much it was hurting my head.

As funds were tight and I only really wanted to ride for fun, (its difficult to get a ton of rock on the pillion of a bike) I decided that the F650GS suited my needs and looked the part. After 23 years without a bike I did not want to be stuffing myself through hedges and my wrists and knees hurt just at the thought of riding some of the sportier bikes around. The fact that Cooper Reading BMW is my closest bike dealer didn't hurt either.

I talked to Pondgirl and she agreed to come down to Cooper Reading and try out the pillion. After that it was no problem and it was just a matter of waiting for the Twin Spark '04 models to be launched in mid March. A bit of negotiation with Tim Angus at Cooper's persuaded him to let me collect the bike a few days early on my Birthday.

A days "Born Again Bike Training" on a CS convinced me that I had made the right choice and the handling and power delivery of the F650 was just what I needed.

Another couple of weeks later and the keys for "Mellow Yellow" as my GS has become known were handed to me on my birthday as promised.

The diary of my rides thought and bike stuff that I have found can all be found on the relevant links on the menu. They get regularly updated, so keep a look out for new stuff.
