Pondboy's BMW F650GS News

Thursday 3rd June
Went for an early evening cruise that took in some local roads I use irregulary but this time strung them together in a totally different way from usual. On the way back from Wallingford I spotted another yellow GS, than just as I was nearing home a new Dakar zoomed by in the opposite direction. Gave them both the "thumbs up".

Saturday 5th June
I went down to Cooper Reading to take some piccies of Playtime97 picking up his new GS. As you can see from the side by side piccie with Mellow Yellow, he has got some goodies on it already.

Sunday 6th June
I nipped up to our local M&P shop which is sited right next to a popular bikers cafe on the road up to Oxford. When I got there, there were about 500 bikes strewn around the place as the shop was having an open day with 10% off everything. There were stands outside selling goodies and fixing tyres, even an inflatable bungie run. After a quick look round I jumped back on the bike and cruised home to watch the MotoGP. Rossi rules.

Friday June 11th
Took time off today to ride down to Farnborough to look around the Hein Gericke shop for vented jackets. Unfortunately their mesh jacket's sleeves only reached my gibbon like forearms. On the way back I watched a loonie drive a Smart car like he was in a playstation game. Sigh.

Later in the afternoon I zoomed round the Marlow bypass to check out the kit in a Honda dealers in High Wycombe. They did have an interesting looking vented jacket although it was light on armour, so I think I'll be treating Mellow Yellow to a set of Touratech front springs rather than spending money on a second jacket. Anyway, all that sweating will be good for some much needed weight loss. Had a blast on the way back filtering through the rushhour traffic down the bypass. Vision on and all senses to maximum. Glad I have been practicing my clutch/throttle balancing as M.Y. just purred through the traffic.

I liked this cartoon I saw a while ago on a bike blog

Sunday 27th June
Went out early this morning, determined to get a good ride. Dropped off some Warhammer Space Rangers for a nephew who was staying at my mum & dad's then zoomed off up to High Wycombe then out towards Aylesbury before backtracking towards Chinnor and Thame. Excellent roads, clear of traffic at that time of day and a nice combination of bends and straights, so I managed to spend lots of time with the throttle on the stop and with a big grin on my face.

By the time I reached the Oxford ring road, the traffic had built up and I hd to be a little more restrained as I looped round the north of the city. Then it was off west towards Cheltenham for a few miles before heading back round some B road bends. Came back via Henley and Caversham managing to lose some sports bikes that had followed me through Henley. All in all 100 miles of bliss.
